Porcelain tiles are a top choice for modern flooring thanks to their exceptional durability, water resistance, and stylish design versatility. Harder than ceramic tiles, porcelain is available in a wide range of finishes and formats—making it ideal for both residential and commercial spaces.
There are three main types of porcelain tile:
- Single Bodied Porcelain
- Full Bodied Porcelain
- Micro-Porous Porcelain
Knowing which type you have is essential to applying the correct cleaning methods and long-term maintenance solutions.
Cleaning Polished Porcelain
Polished porcelain tiles typically require only a light clean to maintain their shine. For a high-gloss finish, we use a green diamond pad on a slow-speed buffing machine. It’s important to avoid excessive use of cleaning agents, as this can lead to chemical build-up and dull the surface over time.
Sealing Recommendations
- Micro-Porous Porcelain: Should be sealed with a natural finish sealer before grouting to prevent grout from filling the microscopic pores.
- Textured Porcelain (Slate/Stone Effect): Benefits from a single coat of sealer to prevent dirt from embedding in the textured surface.
Real Results
In a recent project, we transformed a tired porcelain-tiled shower into a fresh, inviting space—restoring its original appeal and making it a pleasure to use again.
